If there is a reason or requirement for hosting NFS on a Windows environment and you would like to use that shared space for your vCenter Content Library then this might work for you:
-
Provision storage space for NFS share – in my case I created 500GB VMDK
-
Enable NFS by going to NFS Sharing tab and selecting Manage NFS Sharing – I left the defaults and just filled in the Share name then click Permissions
-
1. Add then in the new window
2. Fill in the FQDN of your vCenter under Add Names
3. Select the type of access (Read-Write)
4. Click OK when done -
Now the NFS permissions should look like this
- 1. Go to Security tab
2. Select Edit
3. Add Everyone
4. Provide the following permissions; Modify, Read & execute, List folder contents, Read
- Create new Content Library
- For now is local only – no replication to other vCenters
- Insert NFS path of Content Library shared from Windows – I used a FQDN
- If successful you will see – I already went ahead and imported an ISO into the newly created library
